Tesco SIM only plans now live
Today sees the launch of 9 brand new plans go live on the SIM Only Plans site. Tesco Mobile have released a number of deals to suit all usages and prices start at just £6 a month for 100 anytime, network minutes and unlimited texts. Apple iPad 3G data plans now live
Soft launched here a few weeks ago, our selection of plans for the iPad have really been popular. As of today we have updated and added even more for you to choose from. iPhone SIM only deals now available
Today Vodafone were the first UK mobile phone network to launch a SIM only plan dedicated to existing iPhone users. Ready to order online from now, simply choose a new plan and within a couple of days your new iPhone compatible sim card will be delivered. All customers need to do is swap these over and continue to enjoy all the great features of their current handset, but without the long contracts and high line rental charges. VAT rate to change on 1st January 2010
Early on in the week we got confirmation from HMRC that the 15% vate is to end and that that old 17.5 is to make a come back. In true fashion they have picked one of the worst days in the diary to do this as it's a public holiday in the UK. All the mobile Networks will be changing prices at midnight and the SIM only plans team will be making sure the deals on our site are updated without delay.

Vodafone launch new SIM only deals
From today you can upgrade or sign up as a new customer to 2 new price plans that both offer 1200 anytime minutes plus unlmited text messages, mobile internet and free calls to fixed UK landlines. Costs per month start at £25 if you sign for 12 months and if you don't want to be tied to any contracts you can opt for the 30 day contract option at £30 a month. Orange & T-Mobile to join forces in the UK
If the above is to take place, it will create the UK's largest mobile phone network with over 28 million customers. A spokesperson has said that the deal is due to be signed by November 2009 and is set to offer users both better network coverage and better pricing. If you are in the middle of looking to join either of these two networks, the advice is to continue with your plans as when the time comes of the merger, your account and details will contiune to run under the new brand.

20% of UK mobiles are now sim only
Ofcom has this week published a report that says 20% of the 30 million mobile users in the UK are now on pay monthly sim only. The increase in people making the jump has been put down to both the huge savings on offer and the bonus of not having to sign a long contract. When we have spoken to people they say sim only gives them the security that if they need to cancel, they can with very short notice. This could be another reason for the rise.

12 month contracts end with 3
The mobile network Three has today said that it will no longer offer both new & existing customers 12 month contract deals. This now means that you will have to sign up for a minimun of 18 or 24 months. The good news is however that 3 sim only plans still continue to have a 30 day rolling contract. This move is sure to increase interest about sim only & their popularity is now set to get even stronger.

SIM only mobile broadband now available
Networks are now starting to launch mobile broadband deals with only a 30 day contract. The offers we have seen so far include plans from Just £15 a month & this gives you 5GB of data allowance each month. Other networks are now sure to follow with the deals and we will be adding them to our pages as they are announced.

Number porting is set to get alot quicker
Ofcom has today announced that it aims to speed up the process of moving your mobile number to another UK network. At the moment it can take around 2-5 working days for a request to go through, but the new system now means that it will be completed the same day & in most cases it will take on average just 2 hours. The new porting process is due to go live in 2011 & is set to save mobile operators around £26 million over ten years.

Orange switch over to smaller sim cards
Orange has said it will be the first mobile network to introduce something call mini sim cards in the hope that it will make the company more green. The new cards will be half the size of normal ones & will not only help save plastic, but will cut down on postage weight. Customers that sign up from today will be one of the first to recieve the new style sim.

These new plans are aimed at cutomers that call overseas landlines & can be ordered online. Prices start at just 5p a minute & with only a 30 day contract are set to become very popular. The bonus is though you still get free UK minutes & unlimited texts.

New T-Mobile business SIM only plans
The 3 plans that have been created all contain the same amount of minutes & texts, but the cost per month gets lower if you choose to sign a longer contract than the standard sim only 30 day one. Extras on offer include Web and walk for an extra £5 a month plus a whole host of other add ons that come included are set to make these plans popular to business users of all sizes.
